Free sympathy message writer
When someone you know is grieving, the right words are hard to find. Share a few details and we'll suggest warm, sincere messages for a card or note — pick one and make it your own.
Writing a sympathy message
- What do you write in a sympathy card?
- Keep it short and sincere: acknowledge the loss, say something kind about the person or what they meant, and offer specific support (“I'll call next week,” “Let me bring dinner”). You don't need the perfect words — presence matters more than eloquence.
- What should you not say in a sympathy message?
- Avoid clichés that minimize the loss (“they're in a better place,” “everything happens for a reason”) unless you know the person shares that belief. Don't compare griefs or rush them to “move on.” Simple, honest, and warm always lands better.
- Is anything I type saved?
- No. The details you enter are used only to generate message options and are not stored. Edit them freely so they sound like you.
After the service, you may also need the funeral thank-you note writer.
