Writing an obituary

What should an obituary include?
At minimum: the person's full name, age, and place and date of death. Most also include date and place of birth, a short summary of their life and work, who they're survived by, and the funeral or memorial service details. Keep it factual and warm.
How much does it cost to publish an obituary?
Online obituaries on funeral-home or memorial sites are usually free. Newspaper obituaries are often charged per line or per word and can run from under a hundred to several hundred dollars depending on length and the paper's circulation. Ask the funeral home — they often handle submission for you.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The details you enter are used only to generate the draft and are not stored. Always proofread names, dates, and survivors carefully before publishing.
