Mortuary · El Monte, CA
White Emerson Mortuary is a family-owned funeral home in Whittier, California, operated by the fifth-generation White family. It offers burial and cremation services with an on-site crematory and serves the Whittier and Los Angeles County area. The mortuary was rebuilt in its current location following the 1987 Whittier Narrows Earthquake.
White Emerson Mortuary has been serving families since 1894 and is currently owned and operated by Philip R. White, the fifth generation of the White family to run the business. Born and raised in Whittier, Phil learned the importance of hospitality and community service through his parents' weekly Bible studies and open-home ministry. After initially pursuing other work, Phil felt called to funeral service after witnessing families' gratitude and the opportunity to comfort those in grief. Following the 1987 Whittier Narrows Earthquake that destroyed the original building, Phil oversaw the design and construction of the current modern mortuary facility. Today, the business is staffed by family members including his son Paul, a sixth-generation funeral director, and is guided by the values of compassionate care, personalized service, and ongoing grief support.
