About Upland Veterans' Monument Project
The Upland Veterans Monument Committee is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to creating and maintaining a monument honoring those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Military. The monument was ambitiously planned, funded, and completed in just 11 months using no city funds. The project was led by Ralph Cavallo, who assembled a team to raise funds and oversee construction. Today, the monument stands in the city's civic center at 460 North Euclid Avenue as a site of remembrance, a place of honor for those serving, and a symbol of hope for future service members. The committee actively seeks community involvement through volunteer maintenance work (held every Monday and Thursday morning) and welcomes new committee members.

Ralph Cavallo was one of the most prominent figures in Upland, having resided there since 1971. Named Upland's Community Volunteer of the Year in 2018, he was involved with the Upland National Little League for 35 years, oversaw renovation of the softball field at Greenbelt Park, contributed to additions at the Upland Public Library, and led the Upland Veterans Monument project from conception to completion. He previously worked for Southern California Edison for 35 years and passed away on February 7, 2026.
