Purissima Cemetery dates back to 1868, when resident John Purcell deeded property to the town for burials, leading to the formation of the Purissima Cemetery Association. The site served the historical settlement of Purissima until its abandonment prior to World War II. In 2017, Ed Bixby purchased and restored the cemetery, cleaning up old gravesites and creating new green burial spaces while preserving the natural landscape.
