Osgood-Lagrone Monument Company

With roots beginning in 1906, Osgood-Lagrone Monument Company has a rich history of serving the Panhandle of Texas. Osgood Monument Co. was started in 1906 by Arthur Osgood at 703 Polk Street in Amarillo, and in the beginning, stones were shipped by rail and hand-shaped and engraved by craftsmen using chisels and hammers. The business moved to its current location at 2701 South Buchanan Street in 1956. Meanwhile, the LaGrone family became involved in cemetery and funeral home businesses starting in 1956, with Odell LaGrone founding LaGrone Monument Co. in Canyon in 1970. In 1996, the two companies merged under the ownership of Lloyd & Carol Villett, and in March 2009, Steve & Tom Smith became the owners. Today, the company maintains a dedicated staff with over twenty years of experience, an in-house art studio for customization, and performs all work—from selection and artwork to engraving and delivery—with experienced craftsmen.
