About Old City Cemetery
Old City Cemetery was established in 1852, with the site donated by Captain Charles Willey and his wife. A historical marker was placed on September 28, 1949 by Jacksonville chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, in cooperation with the Historical Society and other civic and patriotic organizations, the City Commission and City Council. The cemetery underwent restoration and beautification work executed by personnel of the city's health and park departments.
