A place of family tradition nestled below the San Gabriel Mountains above Pasadena, Mountain View is one of the few remaining family-operated cemetery/mortuary properties in the area. The cemetery was established in 1882, the mortuary in 1959, and the mausoleum (designed by renowned architect Cecil E. Bryan and considered his masterpiece) was purchased and added to the property in 1971. The grounds feature a 180-foot-long Great Gallery with a hand-painted frescoed ceiling depicting the story of Christianity, stained glass windows created by Judson Studios, surfaces of more than 64 varieties of Italian marble, and intricate tile work. Professional funeral staff are available 24 hours a day, with grounds open to visitors 365 days a year from 8am to 5pm.
