About Meadowlawn Memorial Park, Inc.

Originally known as the Ackerman Family cemetery, the first burial took place on the property in 1872. In 1919, the Hermann Fraternal Order managed the property as their private cemetery until 1963 when Cyrus "Cy" Weller founded MeadowLawn as a perpetual care cemetery. An oasis in the heart of San Antonio's east side, Cy Weller grew the property to 29 acres before passing the business to his son-in-law, Craig Cates, and daughter, Mary Cates. Craig and Mary made it their mission to serve the families of San Antonio and expanded MeadowLawn so that every member of the family could be cared for in one location. Today MeadowLawn sits on 94 acres for the perpetual care cemetery and has a traditional funeral home with two onsite crematories, one for humans and one for pets. The company remains proudly independent and deeply committed to the families who rely on it.
