Mauro P. Garcia - Funeral Homes, Inc. traces its roots to 1949, when founder Mauro P. Garcia, Sr. graduated as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. After working at funeral homes in San Antonio and Alice, he partnered to establish Garcia-Rios Mortuary in San Diego in 1960. In 1964, he and his wife Ines founded Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, coordinating services across San Diego, Benavides, and Freer. In 1971, his son Mauro Jr. and daughter-in-law Betty Lou joined the business. The Alice location opened in 1989, and the company was incorporated as Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. in 1998. Following the deaths of Mauro Sr. (1998) and Mauro Jr. (2002), Betty Lou has continued operating both funeral homes with over 42 years of experience in the business.
