The Lucas Family has been in funeral service for over a century, beginning in the 1860s when Wingate H. Lucas sold pine boxes from his wagon and homestead. What started as a general store in Grapevine, Texas that sold groceries, dry goods, farm implements, and coffins evolved into a full funeral service business. After acquisitions and expansions through the early 20th century, the business is currently operated by James (Jim) N. Lucas Sr. (grandson of Bob Lucas), along with family members including his sons Bobby and Jimmy, cousin Mark, and other relatives. As North Texas has grown, Lucas Funeral Homes has expanded to serve Keller, Burleson, Mansfield, and Fort Worth, and also operates Calvario Funeral Chapel and Harper & Lucas.
