Yes, Lowest Cost Cremation & Burial has been family-owned and operated for over 15 years.
Because we do NOT have corporate shareholders to answer to and the money stays with in our community.
No, most funeral homes do not own their own crematory. We do have our own privately owned crematory.
Because then your loved one stays with us the entire time and it is our staff that handle every aspect of caring for you and your family from place of death to returning the cremains to you; from beginning to end. When a funeral home does NOT have a crematory, they must drive your loved one across town to a shared crematory and wait their turn. Often picking up the urns up to weeks later.
The whole process takes on average 7-10 business days from the time we get paperwork completed to us calling to say that the urn and death certificates are ready for pick up.
This timeframe can fluctuate on a number of different factors including, but not limited to the response time of the Doctor and Health Department, the involvement of the Coroner regarding the cause of death, and what county the death occurred in. Family dynamics can also play a role, as by law we are required to obtain over 50% of the legal next of kin to authorize cremation to take place.
Yes, we can ship remains anywhere in the U.S. via USPS Priority Express.
Yes. Families do this all the time. There is a few we charge to do so as it takes time of a funeral arranger to handle this task.
Most counties in California charge $24 for each Death Certificate, although some do charge up to $26. There is also a $12 fee for each permit issued as well.
The Health Department of the county where the death occurs has to first approve the causes of death given by the Doctor. The causes have to medically make sense and directly correlate to each other in chronological order. Next, the Doctor has to sign the death certificate, and that signature has to be approved by the Health Department before we can finally submit the Death Certificate for final approval by the Health Department.
Yes, after the initial order, legal next of kin can purchase additional certified copies directly from the county Health Department.
Yes. Once the Death Certificate is given final authorization then legal next of kin can go to the Health Department to purchase official (Certified) copies of their own.
