Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services was established in 1885 when Mr. Hiers purchased the MacKay Funeral Home in Ocala, Florida. Dennis Baxley joined the business in 1970, and the Baxley name has been part of the brand since. The brand operates five locations in North Central Florida, with expansions including the founding of Highland Memorial Park in 1936, additional funeral home locations through the mid-twentieth century, and the opening of a life event center in The Villages in 2017. The Ocala location is part of this multi-location family that serves communities across Marion and Sumter counties.
