HOME FUNERALS are when a loved one is cared for at home after death, by family, giving them time to gather and participate in planning and carrying out after-death rituals or ceremonies, preparing the body for burial or cremation by bathing, dressing and laying out for visitation, and keeping the body cool using noninvasive techniques, ice packs. HOME FUNERALS invite family, friends, and community into an authentic and healing after-death care experience in a safe and familiar place, with care performed by loving hands.

NATURAL BURIAL is the caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact that aids in the conservation of natural resources, reduction of carbon emissions, protection of worker health, and the restoration and/or preservation of habitat. NATURAL BURIAL necessitates the use of non-toxic and biodegradable materials, such as caskets, shrouds, and urns. All CASKETS, SHROUDS and URNS must be constructed from plant-derived, recycled plant-derived, natural, animal, or unfired earthen materials, including shell, liner, and adornments. Fasteners and handles (other than those made from brass or chrome) are excluded from this requirement.
