Greek Orthodox Memorial Park was opened in 1934 by founder Nicholaos Doukas to provide a dedicated burial place for the Orthodox faithful. The cemetery grounds were consecrated by His Excellency, the Most Rev. Archbishop Athenagoras of New York City in 1936. The facility features an Eastern Orthodox chapel called the Fountain of Life (Παρεκκλησιον Τησ Ζωοδοξου Πηγες), which is filled with donated icons and serves the community for funeral services, memorial services, and other religious observances. It is the only cemetery of its kind in America serving all Eastern Orthodox faiths.
