Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

No. The cemetery is closed to new interments. Only subsequent interments for Veterans or eligible family members in an existing gravesite are being accepted. Periodically, burial space may become available due to disinterment or other reasons. Contact the cemetery at time of need to inquire about space availability.

Burial is open to all members of the armed forces who have met minimum active duty service requirements and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. A Veteran's spouse, widow or widower, minor dependent children, and under certain conditions, unmarried adult children with disabilities may also be eligible. Members of reserve components who die while on active duty or training duty, or who were eligible for retired pay, may also be eligible.

Visitation Hours: Open daily from sunrise to sunset. Office Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed federal holidays except Memorial Day.

Military Funeral Honors are provided by: Air Force (March Air Force Base), Army (Ft. Irwin or local National Guard units), Marine Corps (MCRD, San Diego), Navy (32nd Street Naval Base, San Diego), and 82nd Airborne Detail (Volunteers). Your local funeral director can assist with obtaining honors.

Fresh cut flowers may be placed on graves and in gravel areas surrounding the Columbarium, Memorial Walls or Memorial Monuments at any time. Cemetery-furnished temporary flower containers are available throughout the cemetery.
