The Ferreira family has been recognized by the State of Florida as a "Pioneer Family" dating back to 1565 when his great-grandfather settled in St. Augustine. Mr. Ferreira's career began at age 14 as a grounds keeper at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. After his grandfather's passing in 1989 and high school graduation, he became a support staff employee at Arlington Funeral Home. He completed mortuary science studies at Miami Dade School of Mortuary Science and worked with Fred Hunter Funeral Homes. In 1995, he returned to Arlington to complete his internship. He purchased his first funeral home, Suwannee Funeral Home in Live Oak, in 2002. He expanded to Macclenny in 2003 and acquired additional locations through 2020. He is Vice President of the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida Association and serves as chairman of the Baker County Hospital Authority Board. He mentors mortuary students and emphasizes excellence and compassion in service.
