The bones are processed and placed in a bag closed with a tie and the metal disk, allowing complete traceability through paperwork.

Yes, this is called a witness cremation. Family members or friends can be scheduled to come to the crematory, accompany the loved one as they are placed into the cremation machine, and help place the person in the machine and push the button that starts cremation. Other optional rituals such as letter-writing, dressing of the body, or music can also be arranged.
