Christ Cathedral was established as the mother church of the Diocese of Orange following the diocese's founding in 1976. The transformation of the former Crystal Cathedral into Christ Cathedral was completed under Bishop Kevin Vann's leadership and the facility was solemnly dedicated in 2019 as a sacred space of worship, evangelization, and unity. Today it serves the spiritually and culturally diverse Catholic population of Orange County, celebrating the faith traditions of multiple ethnic communities through liturgy, pastoral services, and diocesan programs.
