About Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center

Calvary Cemetery was established and dedicated in 1953 by Bishop Robert Armstrong as the second-largest Catholic Cemetery of the Diocese of Sacramento. Located at 7101 Verner Avenue in Citrus Heights (just off Highway 80 and Greenback Lane), it features more than 40 acres of rolling hills and green lawns with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop. The cemetery's most prominent feature is the altar-shaped monument at the base of a large marble crucifix, known as Mount Calvary. The facility currently serves the greater Sacramento area's Catholic and Christian communities and is operated by Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services (CFCS), a full-service End-of-Life care provider for the Catholic Community in the Diocese of Sacramento. Calvary Cemetery hosts the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass every Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Mausoleum to pray for the more than 14,000 faithfully departed souls buried there.
