About Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center
Calvary Cemetery was established and dedicated in 1953 by Bishop Robert Armstrong and is the second-largest Catholic Cemetery of the Diocese of Sacramento. Located on Verner Avenue just off Highway 80 and Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights, the cemetery serves the greater Sacramento area's Catholic and Christian communities. The 40+ acre landscape features rolling hills and green lawns with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop, centered around the prominent altar-shaped monument at the base of a large marble crucifix known as Mount Calvary. The cemetery currently serves more than 14,000 faithful departed souls, with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass held every Saturday at 10:00 am in the Mausoleum.
