Embalming is not required by law. However, in certain special cases, embalming may be necessary if you select funeral arrangements with viewing. Should you choose not to accept embalming, you have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require it; therefore, you do not pay for it. Such examples would be direct cremation or immediate burial. Public viewing of unembalmed remains is not permitted by law.

It is customary for funeral expenses to be paid in full at the time of the arrangement or before the day of the Funeral Service. Should you have a difficulty meeting the financial obligations, please discuss your situation in confidence with your Funeral Director. Insurance is accepted from companies that will accept an assignment to Pleasant Valley Mortuary.

The basic services fee of $2,095.00 includes conducting the arrangement conference, planning the funeral, consulting with family and clergy, shelter of remains, preparing and filing of necessary notices; obtaining necessary authorizations and permits, statistical processing, coordinating with the cemetery, crematory, or other third parties. In addition, this fee includes a proportionate share of our basic overhead. This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremation, immediate burials and forwarding or receiving remains.
