About Brusie Funeral Home
Brusie Funeral Home was formally established in 1941 by Warren Pope Brusie and Helen Brusie. The business building, constructed circa 1889 as a private family residence, has operated continuously as a funeral facility on the same site since approximately 1904, making it one of the longest-running funeral service locations in downtown Chico. Following Warren Pope Brusie's death in 1970, his son Warren Albert Brusie assumed management at age 27. Third-generation family members Marc Brusie and Amy Brusie joined the firm in 1990 and 1992, respectively. The historic structure presents a Spanish Colonial and Mission Revival aesthetic with white stucco walls, a red tile roof, and arched windows, and houses a functioning miniature Model T Ford hearse—a rare historical artifact maintained on the premises.
